What to do with garage door track that's too high? Suggestions?
Seeking your suggestions...
I gutted most of my unconditioned garage ceiling to improve the fiberglass insulation in the floor joists above (conditioned space above) and to add 1" foam board before re-hanging 5/8" type X drywall. But I have a problem: the old drywall had been notched out completely for the garage door track because the track sits snug with the bottom of the upper level floor joist. Less than 0.25" between the track and the joists at its tightest point. I can't lower the track per the garage door guy, so what do I do? Literally the track would be inside of the foam and the drywall if I continued. Pic attached. Ideas that would approach or meet code? Thank you!

Replace that opener with a Liftmaster 8500, it drives the door from the torsion tube. That should gain you 2 inches. Or you can have the door converted to low headroom track ( probably a professional job for sure)
