Tin Ceiling Tile on Drywall Ceiling without Wood Substrate?

Hello all!
So I got a good deal on some 2x2 tin ceiling tiles. All tutorials say to put a plywood layer up, drilled into the studs, to nail the panels to. However Iím wondering if I could use an Adhesive like Gorilla Glue or LocTite, along with using the brad nailer to secure the tiles while the glue sets.

Anyone ever done this? I have kids so canít afford for any tin tiles to just fall off the ceiling. But seems like a good fast trying construction hadhesive with a brad nailer would do the trick.

Thoughts?

I would say no! You want satisfactory results, do what then manufacture suggest. Glues, even Gorilla glue will eventually dry out and loosen. Especially on the ceiling where heat rises along with dirt and air borne greases. If the glue and brads worked, the manufacture would suggest it as an install method.
