Help for brand new bathroom in new development house

Hi
We have recently bought a new build property however the interior still need to be completed.
The bathroom walls are like rough grey plaster, i guess ready for tiling... I would like to know if we can paint over the rough walls as they are after sealing against water or will the walls need to be plastered/skimmed?
Thanks for your help

Sounds like a perfect question for your builder. I suspect the walls are actually covered with cement board which I can't imagine would be attractive. But, the shower/tub area is the only area that really needs to be water proofed.

Thanks. We don't really have a builder as the house was made by the development company. It doesnt look like cement board tbh; more like cement actually trowled onto the walls. We were hoping to leave the texture as it is to add another dimenson to the walls. We will be adding tiles to splash zones ofcourse however I am wondering if it's possible to leave the walls as they are and tile over where needed and paint the rest.

So ask your development company.
