Brick Interior wall

We decided to remove a wall to make our entry way bigger. When we removed the door frame we noticed the wall was made of a red brick material. Not a nice brick. I'm trying to find examples of this online and I'm not successful. Anyone know what this is called and the best way to tear it down? I can tell it's going to be messy.

Brick wall? what is this?

Maybe someone else will have a better idea but I need a different picture - I can't tell what I'm looking at here.

It was built in 1994 in France. I'll try to get better pictures when I'm there later today.

Take a look above for anything that wall may be supporting. In many parts of the world masonry is used for interior walls. Sometimes they are structural, sometimes not.
