Water Heater Temperature control gauge does not hold position

HI Experts,

The model is A.O. Smith FSG 50 232. The problem I have with it is that the control gauge (C (Hottest) B A Hot) seems to go from B to Hot by itself over time after I adjust it to the B setting resulting in there not being enough hot water in the morning.

Which part do I need to replace to fix the issue?

Here is the parts list for ready reference.

Any help is much appreciated.

I closed out your other thread about the drain valve.

Not sure what you need here but the pros will be thru.
