Water heater pipe problem

Do I remove my old 5 inch pipe on the water heater and I will go to buy a longer 6 or 7 inch pipe or do I extent the pipe?

Are you replacing the heater or do you just want the end closer to the ground like it is supposed to be? In any case, if you can solder I'd just extend it.

I'd just use a compression union and a piece of pipe, there is no need to "glue" or solder anything.

Or you could use a 3/4" PVC male adapter and a length of PVC glued to it and screwed into the T&P valve.
