how much to drain for regular maintenam=nce of gas Water heater?
We just replaced the gas water heater. I know that you should regularly drain some water out in order to limit the amount of sediment being deposited at the bottom of the heater.
My questions:
1) How often should you do this?
2) How much water should you remove from the tank?
3) Any other things to consider while doing this?
As always, thanks in advance.

I leave the water turned on and open the drain valve and let it run until it runs clear and there are no more sediment chunks coming out.

Dane's process is mine as well. Keep in mind this is a flush, as you allow fresh water to come in to maintain the level in the tank whereas a drain is actually turning off the intake and lowering the level, which is not what you want to do.
