Mobile home electric water heater

Hello, I realize gas water heaters on mobile homes have the access door on the outside for ventilation reasons. My question is, why do electrical water heaters have the access door on the outside and would there be any problem with me changing this to an indoor access and doing away with the outside door?

Welcome to the forums!

Not all MHs have the water heater access door on the exterior. Most have them solely because that is the best way to access the heater - where they stick it in an otherwise inaccessible corner. If you have the room there is no reason you can't close off the exterior door and create access on the inside.

Does the door seal when closed or does it have a screened vent?

Bud, I believe he has an electric water heater so there would be no need for a vent.

Hi, I was considering if there is a gas furnace. If the door is vented then maybe it is vented for a reason, not the electric water heater.
