Consider a heat pump water heater. ATOH showed an installation in Florida last year. https://www.thisoldhouse.com/how-to/...p-water-heater
A friend of mine just installed one here in the northeast (in his basement) and is very pleased with it.

I'm surprised the heat pump water heater works well in the Northeast. There have been members here not happy with the results and I'd imagine cold incoming water is a problem in the winter.
Not much new in electric water heaters Geo.

Install a bradford white..
Reason?
Rheem water heater and other brands require you to add another anode rod to make it a 10 year water heater. Bradford white you just buy a sticker to make it 10 year.
The bradfords are way heavier then other water heaters. I know I lift them off the truck daily.
Therefore it is of my opinion bradfords are already 10 year heaters...
Its all I install now...

Is that the same for gas too Mike ?
I'll be in the market soon.

In NJ we could not get bradfords back when. The gas company would buy them all up. Now I am in SC I can get the brads, and its all I install.
Yes even gas its just a sticker.
I know supply houses sell them now up there.
The good thing in NJ is the gas company will install and add to your gas bill @ 0% interest over so many months. Free money I say...But I dont recall what they charge.
I can get the brads down here gas 50 gallon for about $450

I've had a ruud hybrid water heater in me fl. It works pretty well. It is the pro version of the rheem model they sell at homedepot. I run it on the most efficient setting and rarely run out of hot water with 50gal and 4 people.
