Hot water thawed but not getting hot

Hot water was frozen and just started running 4 or 5 hours ago. Although t have a good steady flow the water is room temperature at best. My water is electric and sounds as though it is heating. Could I have an issue with my element or should I just give it time to warm up?

Run the hot water for a minute, or long enough that you are sure hot water should be getting to the faucet. Fill a glass with hot water and measure the temperature with a thermometer. Remember that number. Then turn off the hot water and turn on the cold water and let it run for a few seconds and fill a glass and take it's temperature. If they are different, especially by more than 10 degrees then your water heater is working to some extent.

Is your heater getting power? I would check/cycle the breaker. The slightly warm water you are getting might be residual from the tank. You can remove the access panel to check for power with a meter or a non contact voltage tester.
