Installing water filter and softener - what order?
As the title says i'm installing a whole house water filter and a softener. In what order should they go? Filter first or softener?
We're on city water and the filter is really peace of mind, we just want to be sure we're filtering out any little bits we don't want.

Filter first, then water softener.
Not a big issue with city water but with well water, like ours, the filter will remove some soluble iron keeping the softener resin bed cleaner.

Thanks, Marq, that's what i was thinking, but saw a diagram with the softener first and wanted to know if there was an advantage one way or the other.
