Hello, I need help determining what is wrong with my softener. I came home after work and it was constantly fast flowing in the drain. Panicking I put it on bypass and disconnected
the power without looking at where in the cycle it got stuck. I then proceeded to do a manual regeneration In which it completed. So I know the gears are good. Since its on a metered basis, I reset the clock and hoped for the best. The clock kept its time accurate until I again came home and it was stuck on backwash and the timer was flashing rapidly the number 8. So I put it back on bypass and unplugged it. Giving it a little time hoping it would go back to the default setting, I plugged it back in. I still get the crazy 8. I can no longer set the time or program it. Now, thank you for you patience with this book, do I need a timer motor or should I just bite the bullet and buy a new one.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Caroline

Sounds like just replacing the 460I controler will do the job.
There are a few places on line that sell them new and there is a place or two that sell them used.
Timers do go bad from time to time, and the digital ones just get replaced.. mechanical can be repaired at times.

From my understanding of what your saying, it temp resets til it starts a cycle then Fracks up...
Digital controls often can not be repaired in the field , just replaced.
Yours might new might be around 200 but that is way cheaper than a full new system.
You might also be able to find a good used one for a lower price.
