Water softener vs salt-free conditioner
My water softener broke after nearly 20 years and I'm in the market for a new one. Unfortunately, my state requires a drywell be installed to handle the regeneration. Although my water is approx. 17gpg I'm not having issues with staining and haven't really noticing any difference since the unit broke so I'm considering a salt-free water conditioner instead.
I'd appreciate thoughts on salt-free conditioners. One concern I have is that they don't actually reduce gpg so I won't be able to tell if it's working by taking a water test.
