Brazing Bandsaw Blades

I was perusing the forum and came across a 2 year old question regarding brazing a broken band saw blade. That particular thread didn't seem to specifically answer the question. So. I decided to chime in with a new thread. Maybe it will still help someone:

I have successfully repaired band saw blades on a few occasions using both 45% and 56% silver solder. You need to start by first squaring the break and then grind a taper about 1/4" to 3/8" on opposite flat sides so that when the ends are overlapped you will have a scarf joint of the same thickness as the rest of the blade. Now you will need to create a jig to hold the two halves together and aligned. Once this is done, apply the proper flux between the two ends along with a clipping of the silver solder. Now heat the blade at the joint until the solder melts. You may need to a little smoothing with a file or grinder. There are videos on YouTube about this.
