No hot water and no water in part of house

Hi .Have a problem with the hot water in the house. We have had a problem with the pump last week with it short cycling constantly. Asked a plumber friend and he said to let some air out of pressure tank. Did that and pump stopped cycling constantly. Water returned to part of the house but hot water supply has disappeared and part of the house has still not got water. Help. It's cold and near hot water. Can I turn boiler on? Will that bring hot water supply back?

Your post is difficult to follow. There are at least 2 water systems in your home.
#1-Hot and cold water for your sinks, tubs, etc.
#2-Hot water for your home heating.

#1 is supplied by the water company or a storage tank if you have a well. The water is moved by pressure and there is no pump involved. The hot water is heated by a separate heater or a coil in your furnace.
#2 is a closed system operating at 20 psi and uses a pump to circulate the heated water to the heat exchangers. The water is heated by a furnace usually and has a control box that controls the heating sequence when the t'stat calls for heat.
Which system are you describing in your post?
