diaphragm tank is leaking water at base causing pump to run continuously
Dont know much but plumbing but pump wont stop running, causing flooding under house.Felt leak coming out of pressure tank where tank meets base. Is there some kind of seal that can be replaced or should whole tank be replaced?

Been shutting off pump by breaker so it wont run continuously but thats only temp fix. Hoping tank is something that can be repaired being that im strapped for cash but will replace if only alternative.

If you open the Schrader Valve, does water flow continuously from it ?
If so, then I'd say the diaphragm is ruptured, and you could go buy a replacement tank yourself.
If not, where's the water coming from, a welded bead that has rusted ?
You may be ably to replenish the air cushion inside the tank's diaphragm using a small tire pump; but it does sound like the tank is shot.
Home Depot and Lowes have replacements for as little as $100 to $200.

Sorry, you need a new tank.
One thing if it was just the pump short cycling, basement flooding likely the tank is shot.
Post a picture so we can see what your seeing.

Im sure its tank but wasn't it was shot or could be saved as im not an expert on this stuff. But your probably right bout it being shot.I think I seen tanks that size run 150-250$.

I'd say it's pretty serious since the pressure switch is under water too.
In order to know exactly what is going on with the tank you would need to cut the water line to it and turn it upside down. There is a 90 fitting on the bottom of the tank where the water line connects. It could be cracked.
It cannot be determined from pictures.

The guy who put my well in came today & said I need new pressure tank. I believe he said he'd do the job for 500$ or so. I think that sounds reasonable but wouldn't really know.

Also said same thing about pressure switch & not to keep water on too long cuz if that pressure switch is fully submerged, im screwed. Dont hav sump pump to pump water so I cant get in to turn pump upside down.

I found same tank by same company for 220$. Does it matter in price when it comes to pressure tanks or are they pretty much the same because I see the same size tank can range 150$-300$

It would be a little while until you could flip it anyway. The water would need to drain from it first. That would add more to the flood.

Yeah water is almost down to bottom of tank now and pressure swich isnt under at all so ditches helped as temp fix to no sump pump. Well guy told me not to piss around & get it done which I wanna do anyways cuz all that wood under water bad for foundation. Does 500$ sound good for that job. Sounded reasonable.
