Smelly water

I have a shallow well that has sulphur in it but the water softener has handled it till recently. Over night the "rotten egg" smell has gotten bad. When someone takes a shower it stinks up the house. Yes the cal rod has been removed from the water heater. Any ideas?

Are you sure your water softener is still working correctly?

smelly water

The softener seems to be working. I ran it thru a cycle manually as a test. The water is soft just smelly. If the softener isn't working you can hardly get soap to lather and I haven't had that problem.

Last thing I would have done is removed the anode rod and left it out, I would have removed and replaced with a magnesum rod.
Adding a whole house filter on the main line with an activated charcoal filter should get rid of the smell.

Been thinking about a charcoal filter. Might have to do more than think. Thanks for the replies guys.
