A lawn roller can be used in a variety of ways to create and maintain an even lawn. Lawn rollers look like miniature steam rollers and will flatten the ground beneath them.
1. Preparing to Sow Seeds
If you are planning to grow your grass from seed, a garden lawn roller will help you achieve the ideal flat, even surface. Once the ground has been cleared of all the garden debris like twigs and stones, use the lawn roller to flatten the area.
After all the seeds have been sown, run your lawn roller again them again. This will push them in deeper and encourage the roots to grow into the soil.
This procedure is not as practical with turfs or sod because of the damage it can impose on the individual rolls immediately after laying. Sod should be fully integrated into the soil before it is rolled.
3. Cutting Grass
Use your lawn roller before mowing to ensure an accurate and evenly cut lawn.
For economical purposes, purchase a lawn mower roller. These are lawn mowers which come with a roller attachment which enable you to flatten your grass and maintain a manicured garden.
