There are four main types of metal bending tools in use. They all take time to master, as using metal bending tools is an art.
1. Scroll Bender
A scroll bender is a metal bending tool that can bend the metal without it being heated first. There are two types, the hand drawn scroll bender and the capstan operated scroll bender; the capstan type does require the metal to be heated first. The former will give a scroll up to 5 inches in diameter while the latter can offer greater variety with scrolls up to 10 inches in diameter.
A twister is a metal bending tool that does exactly what it says, putting twists either in wrought iron or on flat metal. There are definite limits on the size of wrought iron a twister can work with properly.
3. 3-in-1 Tool
A 3-in-1 tool isn't just a metal bending tool. It can also rivet and roll metal, making it extremely versatile. It's good for bending and rolling flat metal bars as well as round bars.
4. Metal Bender HD Tool
The HD tool is the most complex of the metal bending tools, allowing you to make elaborate shapes. It works with a tracer projector that enlarges images. These can be traced into a batter after the HD tool bends the metal to shape.
