An older particle board can be a bit hard to paint due to its porous surface. You need to do some preparations before you can actually paint it. Here are 4 good tips to help you do it the right way.
Sandpaper the surface a bit for a more polished and smoother appearance.
Apply the first coat of primer paint. Let it dry for a few minutes.
Apply the latex paint next as smoothly as you can to avoid imperfections on the surface board. Let it dry for
awhile then you can apply a second or third coating depending on the condition of the board.
After drying for some time, apply clear sealer by spraying it on the particle board. This makes sure that no grains would fall off
from the old particle board.
Now your old particle board would look good as new and you would be able to enjoy it for many more years to come.
In lieu of of paint brush and rollers, use spray paint available in cans. These come in a variety of colors. These are reasonably priced and found in most stores. Change the color of your particle board if you want.
