If any carpets in your home have fallen victim to staining, you may be curious about how to remove stubborn stains. Below are some helpful tips for removing various types of stains from your home's carpets.

1. Use Dry Cleaning Fluid

If your carpets have been plagued by oil or grease, dry cleaning fluid can help you remove stubborn stains. Begin the removal process by using a vacuum cleaner to purge any dust from the carpet you wish to clean. Next, soak a sponge or rag in dry cleaning fluid, then vigorously scrub any stained areas.

Once the stains have been successfully removed, rinse the dry cleaning fluid off with warm water. For safety reasons, make sure to don a pair of protective gloves when performing this task and to carry out the job in a well-ventilated environment.

2. Use Mineral Turpentine

Mineral turpentine is another effective tool with which to remove stubborn stains caused by oil or grease. Apply it in exactly the same fashion as the above mentioned dry cleaning fluid, making sure to take the same safety precautions.

3. Use Dish Washing Liquid and Hydrogen Peroxide

When it comes to wine spills, it can be a bit tricky to remove stubborn stains. Fortunately, a homemade cleaning solution can be very helpful in this endeavor. Begin by combining in a clean bucket:

1 tsp dishwashing liquid

1 cup of hydrogen peroxide

Put on a pair of protective gloves, and then soak a sponge or washcloth in the cleaner and proceed to scrub the stained area of your carpet. Do this in a properly ventilated area. Once any stains have been successfully removed, blot the freshly cleaned area dry with a sponge, dry cloth, or paper towel, rinse it with warm water, then blot it dry once again.

4. Use Dishwashing Liquid and Warm Water

Dishwashing liquid can also prove invaluable in removing stubborn bleach spots from the carpet. Begin the bleach spot removal process by producing a homemade cleaning solution in an empty spray bottle.

¼ tsp dish washing liquid

1 cup of warm water

Next, seal the bottle and give it a thorough shaking until the cleaning solution takes shape. Then, after vacuuming your carpet, spray your solution onto any stained areas, allow it to set in for several minutes, then use a sponge, washcloth or scrub brush to wipe away the stains. Follow up with a water rinsing.

5. Use White Wine Vinegar and Warm Water

If you're looking to remove stubborn stains caused by mold or mildew, white wine vinegar can make a surprisingly effective cleaning tool. Simply combine in an empty spray bottle.

¼ cup white wine vinegar

1 cup of warm water

Shake well and apply to any mold or mildew-laden areas of your carpet. Give the solution 3 to 5 minutes to sit, then use a cloth, sponge, or scrub brush to purge the stains from your carpet. As with the other cleaning solutions, you'll need to rinse the formerly stained areas with warm water following the stain removal process.
