1. Butterfly Bush - Buddleia davidii
Just as it sounds, butterfly bush attracts not only butterflies, but bees and humans as well. With deliciously fragrant flowers, this lilac look-a-like will bloom all through summer and into autumn. Butterfly bushes are available in blue, purple, lavender, pink and white.

2. Hydrangeas - Hydrangea paniculata and Hydrangea macrophylla
Though not exceptionally fragrant, hydrangeas can provide showy, dramatic color. Hydrangeas can be pruned or trained into large bushes or miniature trees offering beautiful clusters of delicate, star-shaped blooms. Colors range from deep royal blues and purples, to blushing pinks and tinted whites, even greens which are ideal cutting flowers for bouquets. The shrubs live many years and are hardy plants once established. Hydrangea paniculata is the easiest hydrangea to grow and has lacier flowers making it a great starter for any gardener. Whereas, Hydrangea macrophylla likes more moist shady temperatures and is a bit smaller, but reblooms multiple times throughout the summer into autumn.

4. Carolina Allspice - Calycanthus floridus
The scent of Caroline Allspice has a spicy fragrance which will fill the yard on the warm days of summer. The deep red blooms stand out with their spiky shape and bold appearance. Caroline Allspice is a native to parts of North American and is a tough, hardy plant which can withstand most temperature extremes.

5. Oleander - Nerium oleander
This beautiful shrub is an easy grower which can withstand drought and loves sub-tropical areas. 6. Shrub Rose
Unlike many varities of rose, shrub rose isn't finicky and can grow most anywhere. The blooms are beautiful and prolific all over this disease-resistant, easy going plant.
