Aluminum Ladders vs. Wooden Ladders for Bunk Beds
If you are purchasing ladders for your children's bunk beds you may be contemplating whether aluminum ladders or wooden ladders are the better choice. Both types have advantages and disadvantages, so a comparison suited to your needs may be helpful.
Aluminum ladders are durable and especially well suited for a boy's room. They are usually covered in a baked-on enamel finish that is durable and can be matched to your decor. They can also be easily repainted if you change decor or if the enamel becomes chipped.
One of the bad features of an aluminum ladder is that the rungs are generally rounded, which can cause a possible slipping hazard. The enamel coating can also be slick. Another problem is these ladders can be cold to the touch and not comfortable to climb on.
Wooden bunk bed ladders are the traditional bunk bed ladder. You always see them with wooden sets and sometimes customers ask for them as replacements on metal bunk bed sets. They are generally stained or painted the same color as the bed. They are repaintable and can be touched up if damaged.
The rungs on them are usually flat, so they may be a bit safer. You can also put grips on each step for better traction. They are warm to the touch and over all more aesthetically pleasing to many people.
