If you want your roof to be weather resistant, you can apply spray sealant to it on your own. This article will show you the proper procedure for doing so.
Step 1 - Get Ready
Generally speaking, it is a bad idea to apply sealant to your roof if the temperature will drop below freezing before the sealant can dry. If this is likely to occur, choose a different time.
Step 2 - Clean the Roof
In order for your sealant to effectively bond to your roof, it must be clean and free of any dirt and small particles. If it is not, the sealant will adhere to the particles instead, potentially breaking away easily and leading to an imperfect seal. The method you use to clean your roof will vary based on your individual roofing materials. Use your normal method of cleaning your roof and continue.
Step 3 - Spray the Roof
Set up your ladder carefully and have a friend spot you. Use your sprayer to apply an even coat of sealant over your roof. In general, it is a good idea to start at the top, holding the sprayer about two feet from your roof, and working your way down to the bottom. Consult the specific brand instructions for more details.
