Installing Formica bathroom cabinets is not a difficult job, although you should consider whether Formica is the best material for the wet environment. Formica and other laminates used to make bathroom cabinets are subject to chips, air bubbles, and other damage. Correctly installing the cabinets will prevent the laminate from deteriorating. Follow these few steps to install Formica bathroom cabinets.

Step 1 - Prepare the Area

Remove all of the screws and nails before throughly cleaning the surface. Caulk the visible gaps such as those between the wall and the floor. Measure the space carefully and note the required width.

Step 2 - Set Out the Wood

Cut the hardwood to the specified length. Place it in the desired position and make any alterations needed to make a snug fit against the wall. Screw the backboard into the wall, then build the cabinet starting from the sides and moving to the front then the top. Cut suitable holes for any fittings.

Step 3 - Add the Formica

Cut the Formica to the required size. Determine how much glue and pressure is necessary. Add a layer of glue to the cabinet, then place the Formica slowly. Fit it carefully to the top and verify that it is level. uUsing your hands, press the rest of the plastic onto the wood. Use a ruler or straight edge to scrape out any air bubbles. Repeat for the remaining side and the front. At the top, lay the laminate on the wood and cut off the holes before adding glue.

Step 4 - Finishing

Add a Formica varnish over the surface to protect the plastic laminate. Apply it with a varnish brush using slow, regular strokes. Use a waterproof varnish to make your Formica cabinet safe for years.
