Understanding car dent repair can help you in the event that your pick up truck ends up with a dent in the bed. Since trucks are used often to haul heavy items, it is pretty common to find dents in the bed.
Step 1 - Wet Down the Bed
You want to make sure the bed of the truck is at least damp. This will prevent further damage as you pull the dent out.
Step 2 - Use the Plunger
A household plunger can pull small to medium dents out of metal. Apply pressure and pull back slowly. You don't want to do this too quickly, as you don't want to bend the metal anymore than it already is.
Step 3 - Bang it Out
If the plunger method doesn't work you can crawl under the truck bed and try to bang the dent out with a rubber mallet. You want to use caution with this method because a blow that is too hard will create more damage.
Step 4 - Drill a Hole
As a last resort you can find a dent puller. These work by drilling a very small hole in the center of the dent, inserting the tool, expanding the arm, and pulling back on it. While this will remove the dent, it will leave a small hole that needs to be covered later.
