Stucco siding provides a very durable and decorative exterior finish to your home. Stucco is fireproof, water resistant, unaffected by decay, and it really doesn't need any paint. Many times people who use stucco will apply coloring to the mix for a built in color.
Caring for stucco is another reason many people choose stucco for their exterior siding. Very minimal care is needed to keep stucco attractive for a long period of time.
Cleaning Is Caring
The most important method for caring for stucco is to periodically clean the stucco surface. You can easily wash the area clean with a garden hose and mild soap if needed.
- Saturate wall - Starting at the bottom of the wall begin to saturate the entire area until you get to the top.
- Loosen dirt under roof - A problem can occur if too much dirt is enabled to stay near cracks. Keep a steady stream of water under the roof to dislodge dirt and debris.
- Spray until clean - As dirt is falling down the wall, keep a steady stream flowing until all the dirt is washed away from the wall.
Once the area is clean, then inspect the wall for any damages, or cracks. If any are found, then quickly repair with caulking, or stucco mixture.
