Ceiling Fan Repair: Solutions to Common Problems
Knowledge of ceiling fan repair can be very handy in summers when your fan suddenly stops working or poses any other problem. Rectifying these issues can be done by you without having to spend hundreds in engaging the services of an electrician. A few common issues with their solutions are listed below.
Wobbling or Shaky Fan
There can be multiple reasons for a fan to wobble. If a new fan poses the problem of wobbling or shaking, then you will have to recheck the installation. The screws might not have been fixed properly. You will have to tighten the screws of the blades to get rid of this problem. Ensure that the motor of the fan and the blades are on the same level and not very close to the ceiling.
Fan Makes a Grinding Noise
The fan makes this noise if there is something like a wire that has slipped in between the blades thus restricting free movement. Check to see if there is any obstruction and remove it. The fan may produce this sound if the motor and blades are not balanced well. Therefore, ensure that they are in perfect balance by adjusting the blades.
Non-functional Fan Light
This problem is most likely caused due to the loose connection. Switch off the mains and open the light kit. Make sure that all the wires are connected properly. Also, check if the pull chain for the light is working fine. Once you finish all these checks, close the light kit and switch on the mains and the fanlight. It will be back to normal.
