Urethane paint is one of the most durable of all paint finishes, resistant to normal wear as well as scratching. Read on for tips on how to clean urethane paint splatters or spills.

1. Care During Application

Urethane paint is most dangerous just after it is applied. This blended type of paint can take up to three weeks to properly dry, so it is vulnerable for quite a time. Protect the newly painted surface by keeping dust and insects away.

2. Cleaning Up Urethane Paint

Deal with any drips or splashes right away with a cloth dipped in paint thinners. If you find splashes that have dried, soften and remove them with the cloth and paint thinners.

Clean areas where you have used paint thinners with warm soapy water. If the splashes are too dried, you will have to try to use sandpaper to remove them. Be careful about damaging the surrounding area with the sandpaper. If sand paper does not work or is inconvenient, you can try to scrape the spills away with a scraper or a chisel.

3. Cleaning the Paint Brush

Find a jar large enough to fit the entire brush head. Insert the brush and then fill the jar with paint thinner until all bristles are submerged. Leave this to stand for half an hour, and then flex the brush in the thinners to remove the paint. Wash the brush in warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.
