A hanging tile fountain can be a unique and beautiful feature in a home. Place it outdoors or at the entrance of your home to catch the eye of your guests. Creating a hanging tile fountain is a tough task, but you can follow the steps below for an easier project.

Step 1 - Cut the Plywood

Use a saw to cut one-inch thick marine plywood in such a way that it is twice as wide as tiles. The total length of plywood should be the same as the height of six tiles. Cut the plywood such that it is one-inch thick, long and wide.

Step 2 - Place the Plywood

Use decking screws to screw blocks of the marine plywood to the plywood sheets. Place exactly at the corner of the plywood sheets to help hold the back of the plywood so it does not touch the wall. This allows the fountain to fit between the plywood and the wall.

Step 3 - Drill

Use the drill to drill a 3/4-inch hole at the center of the plywood.

Step 4 - Make the Reservoir

Select a planter which measures the same as the width of the plywood. This planter will be the fountain's reservoir. Silicon sealant is used to cover the drainage holes in the planter.

Step 5 - Attach the Tiles

Select a flat work surface, and place the plywood sheet face-down. Attach tiles along the length of the plywood using water construction adhesive. The edge of the plywood sheet and the edge of the tiles must be flush with no space left for grouting. Leave a four-inch gap at the center of the plywood sheets. Allow the adhesive to dry.

Step 6 - Fill the Gaps

Fill the four-inch space at the center of the plywood with ceramic mosaic tiles and attach it to the plywood using waterproof construction adhesive. Leave a 1/4-inch space between the tiles. You must not place the tile on the drilled hole. Leave the adhesive to dry.

Use a spatula to fill the crevices between the mosaic tiles with exterior grout. Use a sponge soaked in warm water to remove the grout on the tile.

Step 7 - Place the Planter

Hang the planter close to the fountain, and place the submersible fountain pump near the planter. Use the scissors to cut the plastic tubing to fix the pump to the drilled hole on the granite counter of the fountain wall. Since the tiles are heavy, fix the other section of the hangers to the wall studs.

Step 8 - Tubing

Insert the plastic tubing through the hole at the back of the plywood. Seal the tubing using the duct tape. Attach the plastic tubing to the spout on the fountain pump. Finally, pour water into the planter.

Step 9 - Hang the Fountain

Hang the wall fountain above the planter. Test the fountain by switching on the fountain pump.
