Easy Wood Fence Removal

Wood fence removal is not easy. You will find that there is typically a lot of hard labor that goes into this. However, if you are able to get the right tools, you will find that the task is not all that difficult. It is important that you not only have the right tools but that you can also use them safely and correctly.

Step 1 - Clear Area

The first thing that you will need to do is clear the area as much as you can. You are going to need room to work safely and easily on the wood fence. You will then need to look at the wood fence posts that you wish to start on. Figure out exactly how you want to go about hooking up your fence puller. There are several different types of fence pullers. Some may end up requiring a threaded eyelet. This will be necessary so that you will be able to attach your fence post puller to your wood fence.

Step 2 - Use the Fence Post Puller

The fence post puller is going to be the most important part of the job. If you do not have it, then you will end up having a much tougher time removing the wooden fence. To begin, you will need to get the fence post puller attached on to the wooden fence that you wish to start with. If any of the fence posts that you are working with are broken close to the ground, then the eyelet is going to need to be threaded with your screwdriver.

You will then go into the middle of the broken piece so that you will be able to pull it up from the dirt. All fence post pullers will have an attachment that is a tension jaw. It will be used whenever there is a smaller section of a fence post that is coming up from the ground.

Step 3 - Attach Tension Jaw

You will find that the more tension that you apply with the tension jaw, the more pressure that the tension jaw will put onto the wood. In order to attach it, you will need to attach it to the fence post puller and get the supplied chain attached to the arm of the fence puller’s hook. From there, the other end of your chain will then need to be attached to the tension jaw.

Step 4 - Wrap the Chain

You will need to get the chain wrapped around the fence post twice if the chain is long enough. This will be needed so that the chain will be able to grab hold of the wood. The two end links of your chain will need to be attached to the fence puller’s hook so that the chain can be held into place.

Step 5 - Pump

Pressure needs to be applied to the fence post with the handle of the hydraulic pump. When using an eyelet, you may need to begin to dig all around the post so that a small amount of it will be exposed.
