An exterior brick veneer is a wiser option than conventional building materials like bricks. Brick veneers are also called brick faces since their external appearance is almost identical to that of conventional bricks.

Pro: Aesthetic Utility

Brick veneers present a larger range of decorative options. These are produced through a specialized industrial process that is more advanced than any brick-making technology. Brick veneers are available in a range of colors and sizes.

Pro: Easy Installation

Brick veneer walls have an anchored installation, secured over the wall’s surface with special adhesives. This is a far less time-consuming process than laying brick. There is minimal drying time involved and no need to finish/polish the veneer surface. Veneers are lighter and easy-to-store.

Pro: Durable and Cheaper

Exterior brick veneers are cheaper than bricks while still being durable. Veneers are durable against external weather elements and last for decades. They are also easier-to-replace as a part of basic repairs. This ensures its low-cost advantage in the long run.

Con: Restricted Application

A brick veneer isn't recommended for houses that are prone to surface vibrations. This includes homes in earthquake-prone areas and those located in places having heavy traffic movement. Since a veneer is an adhered wall-covering, constant vibrations can displace it.

Con: Susceptibility to Rainfall

Though external brick veneers are largely durable, they are not recommended in areas prone to heavy rainfall. Repeated rainfall can cause moisture retention within the veneer surface. Even minimal gaping between the veneer and the wall’s surface can lead to moisture retention.
