Front-load washing machines are heavily used on a day-to-day basis and when problems begin to come up it can be worrisome. This type of washer is not inexpensive to purchase and fixing them can be complicated. One of the most common front load washer problems you may face is that it may begin to make loud noises. Even though this problem does not stop the washing machine from doing its job it can still be disconcerting. There are some simple fixes you can try when front load washer problems like this begin. The following article will share with you the most common solutions.

Step 1 - Is the Washing Machine Level?

One reason for a noisy front load washer is that it isn't level. Most machines, fortunately, come with adjustable feet. Look at the bottom corners and check to see that all the feet are solidly on the ground. If not, adjust them with the screwdriver. If your feet are not adjustable then use a piece of cardboard or other similar thick material to make it level.

Step 2 - Insulation

Your machine's noise can be as simple a fix as properly insulating the machine. Washing machines spin at a very high velocity which can cause noise without having anything actually wrong with it. The noise, however, can still be irritating. To solve this issue, all you have to do is insulate the sides of the washer. Stuff the foam between the sides of the washing machine. The foam will cushion the sound, dulling it.

Step 3 - Check the Drum Bearings

If your machine is making a rumbling noise as the drum turns then you most likely have an issue with the drum bearings. It's possible that normal use can allow water to get to the bearings. Open up the machine, remove the washing machine belt, and manually turn the drum. If you hear a rumble as you turn the drum then your problem is the ball bearings. Remove and replace them with new ones.

Step 4 - Loose Spider

When you look inside the washing machine you will notice a metal panel in the back that has three arms. This is the spider and it holds the drum in place. Some loud noises can stem from this coming loose. Listen to the washing machine carefully while it's running. If each drum revolution produces a noise then this may be the cause. The simple solution is to tighten the bolts.

Step 5 - Coins

Some of the most common problems with noise can be traced back to loose change. It is not always easy to see inside the washing machine so slowly turn the drum and listen for the rattling of metal on metal.

Step 6 - Drive Belt

If the noise is a high-pitched squeal then your drive belt is the most likely cause. Consult your machine's manual to learn how to access the drive belt of your machine and then replace it with a new one.
