If your pets have fleas, chances are these pests are also living in your bedding and carpet. DIY fumigation can get rid of your flea problem. Start by eliminating fleas from your pets by washing them and then using either a topical or oral flea prevention medication. Read and follow product instructions.

DIY Fumigation

Commercial DIY flea fumigation ‘bombs’ will kill most or all fleas. It is very important that you follow the product instructions and that you, your family and pets leave the house for at least 4 hours after detonating the bomb.

After the fumigation, make sure your house is well-ventilated. Go back inside once the smell has subsided and sprinkle some flea carpet powder on carpets and inside a new vacuum cleaner bag. Wait half an hour, vacuum the house thoroughly and dispose of the vacuum bag outside. Any remaining fleas should die within the next week.

Flea Problem Tips

Take the family on an outing to ensure everyone is out of the house during fumigation.

Only buy flea medication from your vet and reputable pet stores to ensure quality.
