A geodesic greenhouse will allow you to grow flowers, herbs and vegetables all year round. This structure is usually shaped like a dome and constructed using triangle-shaped glass or clear plastic panels. Constructing your own geodesic greenhouse dome is not difficult, but there are a few things to consider before you build.
Tips For Constructing a Geodesic Greenhouse
Choose an area that has a solar horizon to the south, east and west and does not have too much direct sunlight in the summer. Try to pick a spot near some deciduous trees as these will provide shade in the summer and more sunlight in the winter when it is most needed.
Plan for needed amenities such as a water tank and a heater. Although you can use a standard hose to water the plants in your greenhouse, a water tank will makes things much easier, especially if you will require lukewarm water for the occasional insecticidal or germicidal misting. Consider installing overhead fans to help circulate the air during a hot summer.
