Ants can be a real nuisance. It becomes difficult to get rid of ants when you have pets in your home and garden since you are limited to using products that will not harm your pets. It is, however, possible to remove ants from your home as naturally as possible without harming your furred friends. Following are some home based remedies to help eliminate ants that are totally safe for your pets.
Cornmeal
Put cornmeal around the anthills and where ants are usually seen. They will eat the cornmeal and die because the cornmeal will expand in their stomachs.
Water and Vinegar Solution
Fill a spray bottle with water and vinegar and spay the ants directly or in their anthills. Ants don’t like vinegar and it is harmless to your pets.
Eucalyptus Oil
Spray the ants with eucalyptus oil. It is another harmless product for your pets that ants don’t like.
Mint
Grow mint in your garden. Not only will it have a lovely fragrance but ants will avoid your garden because they don’t like the smell of mint.
Terro
Terro is borax mixed with sugar water. Sprinkle some Terro drops over the ants. It might take a day or two but once the ants take this sticky substance to the anthill, all of the ants will consume it and die. And the best thing is that Terro is harmless to your pets.
