Ground Effects Body Kits: How to Install Bottom Lights

One of the most important features that your car should have is ground effect body kits. These body kits include bottom lights, which are also called fog lights. Bottom lights are very important since they give better penetrative power during foggy conditions thus revealing objects deeper into the fog than your standard lights will reveal; this will help you prevent from running into accidents while you are on the road. When installing this particular ground effect body kits, here are some of the things that you will need:

  • Wire
  • Electrical tape
  • Drill and drilling bits
  • Screw drivers
  • Switch
  • Fuses
  • Mounting brackets and necessary hardware
  • Wire strippers
  • Wire nuts
  • Working gloves
  • Marker

Step 1 - Determine the Location Where You will be Installing the Bottom Lights

Once you have the bottom light kits, determine the location where you will be mounting the kits. Make sure that the lights will not interfere with the headlights thus you need to install the lights at the bottom of the car. Once you have determined the location of the lights, use a marker before you proceed to the next step.

Step 2 - Mount the Bottom Light Kit

When mounting the bottom light kit, you need to drill a hole where the light bracket will be bolted. Once the hole has been drilled, make sure that you securely attach the brackets tightly. Use a screw driver to drive the screw tightly on the brackets.

Step 3 - Install the Light Switch

Connect the bottom light kit to the light switch that needs to be installed in the dashboard of your car. Make sure that the location of your switch is easily found on the dashboard and does not interfere with the other operations in your dash. Prepare the fuse to be connected to the car battery.

Step 4 - Connect the Switch

Before you make the necessary connections, turn off the car first or unplug the car battery in order to protect yourself from being shocked. Wear a pair of working insulated gloves for protection. Once everything has been turned off, connect the switch to the bottom light kits by running a wire from the switch to the bracket. Use wire nuts and electrical tapes to hold the wires in place. Moreover, make sure that you connect the fuse to the car battery and switch in order to make the bottom lights work properly. Most bottom light kits have instructions with them thus it is important that you follow the instructions to set up everything properly.

Step 5 - Test the Connection

Once the connection has been made, plug the battery back and turn on the car so that you can test whether the bottom lights are working properly or not. If the lights do not turn on, then try to check if the wirings are loose or are connected properly.
