Hanging Curtains on a Glass Door
A glass door gives a room a nice bright and open feeling but does not provide adequate privacy. Hanging curtains on a glass door is a great way to enhance the look of your room. You do not need to call in the handy-man to do this job. With the right tools and a good understanding of the process, you will be able to hang the curtains on the glass door in your home.
Step 1 - Get Started
The idea is to install a double curtain rod above your glass door. This will provide you with two options. Sheer curtain and the regular curtain. The sheer ones will provide you with privacy as well as let light in during the day.
From the door frame mark a spot around four to six inches up. Now mark a spot four inches to the left and four inches to the right of the door frame. Finally place a mark in the center.
Step 2 - Fix the Curtain Bracket
Place the curtain bracket according to the measurement above.
Now with a pencil mark the spots on the wall where the screws have to be drilled to ensure the bracket is held in place.
Step 3 - Locate the Studs
A stud finder is a hand-held device which helps to locate or trace studs behind a walls surface. You need to now run the stud finder over the spots that you have marked. In case no studs are found behind the spots, you will need to use the drywall hangers or countersinks for the brackets.
Step 4 - Fix the Drywall Hanger
Use a power drill to screw in the drywall hanger in place. Fix the first bracket to the wall by using a power drill and use screws to hold it in place. But do not tighten it as yet. Now fix the left, right and center brackets the same way as you did the first one.
Step 5 - Check the Alignment
With the help of a level, make sure that all the brackets are in a straight line. In case there is some discrepancy, adjust or tap on the brackets to align them. Ensure the brackets are level before tightening the screws. This will hold the brackets in place.
Step 6 - Add Curtains
Hook in or slide the curtain over the lower rod and fix it into the rod holder. Once that is done you can slide the main curtain over the curtain rod and fix it into the upper rod holder.
Adjust the curtains so that they hang neatly. Now tighten the screws under the brackets so that the curtain rods are well secured. That's all you need to do to hang curtains on your glass door.
You can choose different colors or styles to complement any home decor. If you want to darken a room, be sure to use heavy and dark fabrics. The curtains will also provide your home with style and glamour.
