Standard heights to put electrical outlets for washing machine and dryer?

Is there a commonly accepted height at which to install the electrical outlets for a washing machine and dryer?

I like to install them near or above the top of the units so the cords are easily accessible.

There is no code for it, but I like to do it as a PC and place them higher, about 48" from the floor. Some people do not like to see them so then I will go about 36".

Tolyn, do you mean 48" and 36" as measured from the floor to the top of the electrical outlet box?

To the top, so 46" and 34" to center, but really you can place them anyplace you want.

I also like to see the receptacles above the machines, makes for easier access as well.
