Drywall mud can leave behind a big mess. Fortunately, it is easy to remove. If the mud is on a hard floor surface, you may be able to simply scrape it off of the floor, taking care not to scratch the floor’s surface. Because drywall mud is water soluble, it can be removed from carpets by using a carpet shampooer or steam cleaner. Drywall mud in a bath tub can be soaked and rinsed away. Heavy spills may require more soaking. Avoid letting chunks of mud wash down the drain. Wetting the mud and scrubbing it away will clean drywall mud from counters and sinks as well.
