The first sign of a woodworm infestation is round holes in your furniture and wood. These will form as the larvae of the woodworm exit the wood to mate. By examining the size of the holes in the wood, an expert can identify the species involved and effectively treat the problem. You can examine the wood yourself, but you may not realize the extent of the woodworm problem. You can purchase spray to kill the woodworm as they leave the wood to mate as it is impossible to get inside unless the wood is damaged. Alternatively, heat the wood to about 140 degrees Fahrenheit for a day as this kills the woodworm and the eggs. You will only be able to see the extent of the damage after the woodworms have been destroyed.
