You need to regularly adjust door hinges to make sure that your door closes properly. All you need to do is to tighten the screws which, in effect, secure your door into the door frame properly. Below are the materials and instructions on how to adjust door hinges.
Step 1-Examine your Door
Examine your door for any loose hinges and loose hinge screws. Open your door and look if your hinges have any missing screws as well. Examining your door will give you a good idea of what you should do to adjust your door hinges.
Step 2-Tighten the Top Screws
With a screwdriver, tighten any loose hinge screws that you find. Normally, a hinge has two screws on top, which attaches your door into the door frame.
Step 3-Tighten the Remaining Screws
Using the same screwdriver, tighten all the remaining hinge screws. The remaining hinge screws are responsible for securing your door in place. If these screws are not tightened properly, your door will not close and open properly.
Step 4-Reposition the Hinges
If the area of the door frame where the hinge screws are set is brittle and damaged, then you have to reposition your hinges into an area of the door frame that is undamaged. To do this, unscrew all of the hinges and move the hinges into another area.
After making all the adjustments above, test your door if it closes and opens properly. If not, repeat all of the above procedures.
