How to Apply Elastomeric RV Roof Coating
Elastomeric roof coating is used for all kinds of homes, but this article is going to focus on applying it to an RV roof. It is essential that you apply roof coating, in order to protect your RV from water damage.
Tools and Materials:
- Pressure Washer
- Power Sander
- Paint Roller
- Elastomeric Coating
- Paint tray
Step 1 – Cleaning the RV
It is important to clean the RV before putting on an elastomeric roof coating. To get off the majority of the dirt use a pressure washer. If the roof is rusted, then you need to use a power sander to get rid of this. Finally, use the pressure washer, to get rid of loose pieces of rust before applying the coating.
Step 2 – Check the Weather
You must apply the elastomeric coating in the right weather conditions. If the weather is warm and sunny, then the coating will dry nicely. However, if it is raining or the weather is damp, then the coating will run and not be effective.
Step 3 – Apply the Elastomeric Coating
Pour the elastomeric coating into a paint tray, and roll a paint roller in until it is thoroughly covered. Once thoroughly covered, roll it on the RV roof. Continue this step until the roof is fully sealed. It is practical to start at the top left hand corner and work your way to the bottom right hand corner while applying the elastomeric roof coating.
