How to Build a Wall Jewelry Organizer
If you are looking for a place to hang your jewelry, a wall jewelry organizer can provide an easy solution. You can hang your wall jewelry organizer anywhere that is convenient for you, such as in your walk–in wardrobe or next to your bathroom vanity or your bedroom. You can build it quickly and easily with some basic knowledge in working with wood. If you have a creative mind, you can have fun decorating too. All the tools and materials needed for this project should be available from your local home improvement store.
Step 1 – Planning the Layout
Planning includes deciding the size of the frame and the position of the wall jewelry organizer. The size of the frame depends on how many pieces of jewelry you have and the wall space. You can position the organizer anywhere on the wall. Planning also includes the type of wood you want to use. You do not need a high quality wood for this project.
Step 2 - Prepare the Picture Frame
The second step is preparing the picture frame. You can buy a new picture frame, or you can recycle an old one. All you need to do is remove everything from inside the frame. Wipe it thoroughly with a damp sponge, and your picture frame is ready to become part of your wall jewelry organizer.
Step 3 – Taking Measurements
Now, measure the frame using a measuring tape, and mark it on the wood. The cut piece of wood should be the same size as the frame.
Step 4 – Cutting the Wood
Double check the measurements before cutting the wood for the wall jewelry organizer. Cut the wood to size using a circular saw.
Step 5 – Pre-Drill the Holes for Cup Hooks
To attach the cup hooks to the wood, you need to drill the holes first. Mark the position of the holes on the wood. Use a spirit level to make sure that the holes are at the same level. You can also use a string line to check the level of the holes. You can pre–drill the holes now.
Step 6 – Attach the Cup Hooks
Now that the holes are pre-drilled, you can attach the cup hooks on to the wood. To do this, just screw in the cup hooks.
Step 7 – Attach the Frame to the Wood
The next step in building is attaching the frame to the wood. Apply some wood glue on the back side of the frame and place it on the wood, and press it firmly. Wait until the glue dries, and then you can add some screws to make it stronger. In order to add screws, pre–drill some holes on the back of the wood. Put in some self-drilling screws using the hammer drill to finish building your wall jewelry organizer.
