With daily use, a hair brush accumulates residues of natural oils and styling products. A quick vinegar soak cleans the residues and extends the life of hair brushes and hair combs.
- Distilled white vinegar
- 16-oz. glass or plastic cup
Step 1: Remove the Hair
If there is any hair or lint caught in the hair brush bristles, remove it. Use a toothpick if necessary to get between the bristles.
Step 2: Soak the Hair Brush
Place the hair brush in the cup and fill with distilled white vinegar to cover the bristles. Let the brush soak at least 15 minutes. To clean a hair comb, use a container that allows you to completely submerge the comb in vinegar.
Step 3: Rinse the Hair Brush
After the vinegar soak is complete, rinse the hair brush in warm water. Shake the excess water off. For hair combs, rinse the vinegar off and wipe the comb with a soft cloth.
Step 4: Dry the Hair Brush
Once the brush is clean and rinsed, wipe the handle dry. Place the brush in an area where it can get good air circulation to allow the bristles to dry naturally.
