What You'll Need

Is your coffee pot looking a little more stained than it did when you bought it? Knowing how to clean your coffee pot is easy if you follow these three steps.

Step 1 - Use Vinegar

Use a mixture of half vinegar, half water in your coffee pot as if you were making coffee, and run your machine as usual. Once the process is complete, pour the hot mixture back into your tank and run the machine again. Run the machine a third time with plain water to rinse out the leftover vinegar.

Step 2 - Soak Overnight

If your coffee stain is still there after all of this, try filling your coffee pot with vinegar and letting it soak overnight. In the morning, wash out your pot normally.

Step 3 - Repeat

If this doesn't work, repeat it. You can do it as many times as you like, and each time your pot will be a little bit cleaner. More likely than not, if you do the first step regularly, your coffee pot won't get stained badly enough to call for this. Naturally, maintaining your coffee pot regularly will save you time and effort in the long run, and it will even keep your coffee machine running longer and better. Don't wait until your coffee pot is so dirty it needs to be scrubbed.
