If you want to get your floor clean without the aid of harsh chemicals, you need to get a steam mop. It is powered by electricity, which heats the water contained in a vessel. Once the water is heated to the right degree, steam is produced which clears dirt and grease. It saves you time and effort that would otherwise be required to clean the floor. You can use the mop on hard floor surfaces such as stone, ceramic, marble, and hardwood floors. It is important that you clean your steam mop well after use. This will not only maintain its efficiency but will also extend its life.

Step 1 - Unplug the Machine

Pull out the cord from the power outlet before you clean. If the machine has been in use, the mop pad and lower parts will be hot from the machine operation. Allow about 15 minutes for the machine to cool completely.

Step 2 - Drain the Tank after Use

Always empty the tank after each use. When you leave water in the tank there’s a higher risk that mold or corrosion will develop.

Step 3 - Soak and Wash Soiled Pads

The steam cleaner comes with spare mop pads. However, mop pads can be washed after use. This will help you stretch the pads for longer. Detach used mop pads. Soak the dirty pads after use with some regular laundry detergent and a tablespoon of baking soda. Allow about 15 minutes for the detergent to work on dirt. Wash thoroughly and rinse with plenty of water. You should aim to remove all traces of soap. Hang the pads outside to dry in the air. Be sure they dry completely before storage. Alternatively, you can machine wash with hot water then tumble dry.

Step 4 - Clean the Tank

Dampen a soft cloth with warm water. Carefully wipe the inside of the tank. Be sure to reach all areas. Clean the outside as well with a damp cloth. Once you notice the cloth is dirty, it is best to change and use another cloth to complete the job. Lay the tank aside in a safe place.

Step 5 - Wipe Steam Mop Surfaces

Use a soft damp cloth to wipe the surface of the steamer. Be sure to wipe over the entire surface. Several cloths may be required to do the job. Gather all the used cloths when done. You can launder them in the washing machine then tumble dry.

Step 6 - Attach Tank

Install the clean tank into the steamer. Do not fill it with water. It is best to fill the tank when ready to use.

Step 7 - Store

Once clean and fully assembled, store the machine in an upright position. Be sure the storage area is dry and free of dust.

Extra Tips

Never use cleaning products with the mop, as they may damage the equipment. Do not use bleach to clean the mop pads, as it may weaken the material. Always use distilled or de-mineralized water to steam clean. This has no minerals and deposits and will enhance the performance of your machine.
