In order to get the best operation out of your RV macerator pump, it is a good idea to clean it out every year. This will allow you to get rid of anything that may develop into blockages and check the condition of the pump. Once you have removed the RV macerator pump from its place in the holding tank, you can clean the pump easily using an old bucket and some standard soap cleaner.
Step 1 - Remove the RV Macerator Pump
Begin by taking the RV macerator pump out of its location near the toilet. Make sure that you turn off water and electricity supplies to the pump and that the holding tank is empty. You should then unscrew the pump from the holding flange, and pull the hose out of the pipe. Use a wrench to remove the seal between the holding tank pipe and the tube.
Step 2 - Wash the RV Macerator Pump
You can then start cleaning the pump. Begin with the tube. This should be placed into a bucket of soapy water and left for a few hours. Running water should then be pumped through it in order to clean it thoroughly. Take the blades off the pump, and wipe them down with a damp rag. Wash off any large pieces of debris, and then place the pump back into the holding tank.
