Step 1- Identify the Stain
The first thing that you will want to do is identify the stain on the carpet. The most common stain on indoor outdoor carpet is some type of oil. If it is oil, you will use dishwasher soap to get rid of the stain. If it is something that you can not identify, you may have to use one of the commercially available carpet stain removers.
Step 2- Vacuum the Carpet
Vacuuming the carpet helps you to remove the excess dirt and soil around the stain. Stains tend to sink to the bottom of the fiber and vacuuming helps you prevent it from coming back again.
Step 3- Clean the Spot
If the stain is oil-based, then you need to take a rag and clean it with dishwasher soap. If the stain is something else, a carpet cleaning solution is usually going to work best.
