Home improvements can be an essential part of making a persons life more joyful, therefore it is not surprising when someone wants the responsibility of flooring carpet tiles on their own. These tiles are easy to handle, and they also save the problem of having to replace a whole carpet when accidents happen. If you would like to take this venture upon yourself and lay your own carpet tiles here is the way to do it:
Step 1 - Why People Choose Carpet Tiles
The tiles are great for people who have children or pets since they only require a simple removing of the tile if it becomes stained. They also come in a variety of colors and give your floors a very unique look. Making your floors more spectacular is one way to make your home look beautiful and to gain envy of visitors who pay you a visit. There are many ways that someone can decorate their floors and the tiles are sometimes the perfect choice.
Step 2 - Safety First
Before you start the process of flooring carpet tiles, you will have to make sure that all of your items are on hand. Besides your normal tools mentioned, make sure that you are wearing work gloves. They will protect your hands from any cuts or getting blisters.
Step 3 - Write the Measurement Down
Be sure that you measure the size of the room that the carpet tiles are going into, and that you measure the carpet tiles themselves to make sure that they are equal. Use your measuring tape to complete this task.
Step 4 - Write the Measurements Down
After you have made your carpet tile measurements, write them down on the back side of the carpet. You will use your china marker for this step. Also, you should always make sure that the measurements are correct, and don't be afraid to check them twice. With your measurements written down you can always refer back to them when in doubt.
Step 5 - Cutting the Carpet Tiles
You are now ready to cut the carpet tiles after laying the carpet onto a flat surface. Take the utility knife and gently run a straight line onto the back of the carpet. Make sure that the line is even and repeat the process down and across. By doing this you are cutting square tiles into the carpet. Press firmly down and make sure that the line pattern is smooth. Remember as stated earlier, your tiles will be a reflection of your previous measurements and they will be a perfect fit for the room that they are going into. Be sure to cut away from your hands and body and position yourself above the carpet. After you have repeated the cutting process for each tile you are ready to lay the tiles. If you are only replacing a single tile cut out the piece you want and save the rest.
